RE: Vista Release Version (not RTM) on TC1100

It sounds like you did it as an upgrade, but I had a similar problem on my
laptop.
Vista blocks a LOT of startup services/programs from running, and one of
those happened to be my background app that enables my laptop's hardware
buttongs (some that I never use like e-mail/tv/help, and some that I need
like volume/wifi-on-off/brightness).

Try reinstalling the software for it.
