If your system won't resume with a simple key-press or moving the mouse,
your computer is most likely hanging on something during the suspend
process.

My system does this if I install CA Anti-Virus on my computer. During the
"sleep" process the resident AV process simply won't allow the system to
power-down. (in S3 the system is almost totally powered down, only RAM
remains active)

Sometimes drivers will cause this as well. I'd suggest ending running
processes one by one and attempting to 'sleep' the system after each and see
if you can narrow it down. (Assuming you want to use the 'sleep' feature.)
