First, you could boot from an XP CD, but you'd have to supply the CD
yourself.

Yes, you can remove the drive and connect it to another computer using
either a USB adapter or the native (IDE or SATA) drive interface of the
other computer and the drive in question.

What I recommend is this:

sure to get an auction with the lower price ($4.99). Bad news: The
seller is reliable, the product is good, the price is dirt cheap
($4.99), the shipping is very reasonable ($8.99). But it comes by
parcel post from Hong Kong. Delivery takes 3 weeks. :-( ]
