Actually Microsoft is very broadminded to the extent that anyone can buy
these versions if they have a student in your family! However you are right
that you re not licensed to use them for business purposes and you are
supposed to stop using them when you are no longer a student.

Some versions do differ -- Office Home & Student 2007 has only 4 elements
and does not include Outlook for example. See this comparison:
