Or, delete the "Use Search Asst" value. By default, XP search is enabled.

I just clean installed Windows XP Pro, to give my old PC to my Son. The Search
window looks like Win98 (from memory). It was working fine before the reformat.
All other windows look "normal"
Can't find "change preferences" on Search. So, I can't find the window giving
options to use it with or without animated screen characters. In help, it says
you can change it to "classic" view (which I think this may be) but this option
may not be available in all languages. It is set to English Australia, the same
as it was before.
I attempted to Google, all I can find is how to turn it the animated characters
off. (I'd like to turn them on ) But in any case it all I can find everywhere
I look is: "In the Search Companion dialog box, click Change Preferences.".
That's the bit I can't find. What am I missing?
