paul cannon is on a distinguished road
Thank you, those are useful posts.

I am afraid my problem is a bit more basic then that. The issue is that Windows sees NO wireless hardware. None. If I go into the Motion dashboard, it reports no wireless HW installed. Now I know that is not true - I have used wireless for years on the tablet.

Like I said before I turn off wireless when not in use. Just like your excellent posts suggests, its a bad idea to have your wired and wireless operational at the same time. It definitely cause me problems at work.

SO here is what I think happened to me:

1) turned off wireless weeks ago
2) changed jobs and decided good time to wipe tablet clean and re-install OS
3) gave it to IT. They use a regular version of XP tablet (not the one that comes with the tablet) to install.
4) since wireless is off, its never seen and no drivers installed, etc.

I have been exchanging emails with Motion and they insist I install their version of WINXP Tablet.

I realize I am the partial architect of my problem here but I do have 2 legitmiate gripes:

1) the hw has no way to turn on the wireless adapter(!). All the newer tablets I have used or seen have that. Its seems nutty not to be able to turn it on physically. Apparently they added it to the bios but I can't flash the bios becuase I don't have the windows bios flashing utility. arrrggggg...

2) and just a general gripe that I must install their version of the tablet. I generally avoid pc's that require it. I sorta thought this was out of vogue but I guess not.

So, does anyone know how to flash the bios if you don't have winphlash installed? a internet search turns up winphlash for other vendors but I am not sure if they are HW specific... is there a DOS version to flash the BIOS?

If I can get the BIOS flashed, I may be able to turn on the wireless card which will then allow XP Tablet to see it...

thank you!
