Re: Best laptop companies?

Generally speaking, you can buy about a zillion useable brand-new laptops
from Compaq to Toshiba to Dell new; or IBM refurbished all for $499-700.
Although you might have to wait for some rebates on the new ones. Most, if
not all laptops get their parts from Chincu Taiwan, or within 1000 miles of
that location.

Buy a laptop that feels good to the touch, is light, and stay within your
budget. 512 memory, 40gb hard drive, dvd/cd-rw, integrated wireless. The
rest is gravy. dr

Hello,
I am new to this forum. I really want to buy my first laptop this
summer, but I am not sure who to go with as a company. I want to try to
stay around the $700-800 mark. I was looking at Dell's web site, but I have
heard horrible things about their tech support. I am pretty confident that
all the complaints are true because one time I called Dell to get a price
quote on a computer, and the Indian chick couldn't hardly comprehend what I
was asking. I don't want to deal with Indian tech support if at all
possible. Any recommendations?
