Macros

Anyone familiar with writing a macro? I need help, I don't even know if what
I want to do is possible.

I am planning on giving my really old laptop to my great aunt who has had a
stroke and lost her speech. She used to know how to type. I have found a
program that will read out loud anything you have typed and then highlighted
in a program like Word, Word Pad, etc. The problem being the whole process
is a bit complicated for someone who has never touched a computer. I would
like her to be able to open the speech program, type something in Word Pad,
and press a key, and have the macro highlight what she wrote and push the
proper "button" in the talking program. Is this possible? What she types
would obviously be different each time, but choosing select all would cover
that. It is the switching between programs that is complicated and I am also
concerned that her ability with the mouse may not be that good.

I don't really understand macros, but think this might be something that
would help.

Any help appreciated.

Autumn
