Eric and DS have answered most of this question so I'll just add my
little bit...
Make sure the CD-R is finalized .. some writing software leaves the disc
open, which really isn't a problem for CD-RW/R Drives but can be for
"normal" DVD/CD rom drives.
It could also be the type of dye used in the CD-R .. try a different
brand of CD-R, if its yourself that's making the disc's.
