Hi, I just got my laptop from an ebay seller today. Unfortunately, the pen doesn't work. The computer recognizes the movement and shows a pointer, but, as far as touch screen and writing....nothing.
Does this mean I have the same problem as posted here or could it be just replacing the stylus pen?

Generally, gateway just replaced the screen for us for free though...
Under the tablet, remove the 4 screws that hold the screen base.
Remove the piece that holds the buttons by the base of the screen (Sorry, I don't have a tablet here to get better descriptions).
Unhook the connections of power and display from the screen, remove the screws, and lift off the screen unit. Remember the direction of each connector as you unhooked it.
Remove the screw covers on the bezel of the screen. Then, split apart the plastic bezel.
On a flat surface, preferably with a towel, lay the screen face down on the towel. In what now would be the upper right hand corner, there should be a screw or two. Remove them, and there should be the digitizer, right at the edge. Place a small section of mylar tape in between the digitizer circuit board and the other metal.
Reassemble.
Apologize for the choppy instructions. It's been about 15 months since I had to repair one, and I left that institution.
Gateway should replace the screen though for nothing as a recall. |
