I don't have the 314, I have the CMT204TMi, the Travelmate C200 but I imagine they use the same glass (maybe not though, just wanted to add my two cents). I haven't noticed any give on the glass at all.
As far as heat on my C200 it's a little warm but not too bad. I don't have to have a pillow seperating my skin from the blazing hot bottom of it. It also helps that my model has the fabric screen cover that folds over though I could use it without it and not have a problem.
You might want to check around and read some reviews on it. I found this up at NewEgg.com but search around Google.com for more.

Battery life has been pretty good (easily over 2 hours I haven't tested longer). The Tablet runs alittle hot with the power supply connected so I tend to charge and then use on battery (no problem with heat then).
