Ok i've fixed it. It seems that the drivers for the graphics are quite aged yet
www.acer.co.uk does not offer any later versions than the one I received with the PC.
I tried to install the latest drivers from nvidia.com/drivers however for some bizzare reason the Driver setup would not detect that I had a Geforce card! I then used these (Beta) and it appears to have fixed the problem:
