I followed Rock's advice and plugged a couple of older HDs and brought XP up.

Then I used Heidi erase DOD 7pass to erase them. Then tossed them (2 20gb old
Maxtor drives that squeal - single 20gb partition).

In a week or 2 I will do the same thing to the drive I just cloned (connect
it, then DOD 7pass), and then save it, or leave it connected for backup.

Heidi erase is what I have used for a long time for files.
