| Quality of Tablet PC Components This is not some sort of flame mail.
But it seems that the Tablet Team has some sort of problem with testing/QA.
There seem to be quite many issues with tablet related software compared to
other products from MS.
I've been working with lots of MS Software in my job for since NT3.51. My PC
with W2K installed works like charm since 2000 without having to
format/reinstall. The SQLServer I work with is only rebooted to install a new
SP for the OS. All very stable and reliable (haven't had the slammer problem,
since it isn't on the inet).
But since I got my Acer Tablet with SP2 I'm experiencing problems, even
though it already the second Fix.
-The TIP locks up my machine and 'eats' memory as may others have reported
here event the Tip has never show on the screen. And this a real showstopper
bug. It causes sometimes dataloss.
And btw an application not displaying any windows/GUI using >30MB (much more
my outlook uses when minimzed) right after start is not really cool. No
matter wheter its managed or not.
-The TIP goes nuts when used with applications started with other
usercredentials using runas as described on technet.
-The Ink Desktop is a very cool idea, but makes my desktop look scrappy, my
background picture looks blocky, the shadow from the icon caption is gone
which I really liked because it makes them more readble.
I know that bugs always slip though testing. I'm a C++/SQL developer myself.
You TabletPC people add some really nice features to XP.
But the TabletPC software I get doesn't deliver the quality I'm used to get
from MS in the last years. It makes me feel like WinWord 6.0 again :-(
Please do NOT post any "ms software is all s#*t" posts

btw: Has anyone noticed that the IE the only software not opening its menus
to the left? But thats one for the IE team I think ;-) |
