Your removing/replacing the RAM module as a temporary fix is a good sign
that the solder joints on the slot have failed, a common problem on most
GR- series notebooks. This can be fixed, possibly, by reflowing the
solder. Go to http://p200.ezboard.com/bunofficialsony and look up the
user smbios. He has a good reputation for doing this type of fix at a
reasonable cost.
