ViewSonic support people explained the problem.

I have ViewSonic ViewPad 1000 Tablet PC with the touch screen and not a
digitized screen.
That is why Press and Hold does not work and that is also why when the pen
moves above the surface the mouse pointer does not follow it.

The touch screen is simply not capable to do that.

I learned something new...
