Thanks all of you for your inputs.

When I open 'System' from the 'Control Panel' & then click the 'Device
Manager' button under the 'Hardware' tab, one of the child nodes under
the 'Other Devices' node is 'Video Controller (VGA Compatible)' which
is accompanied by a question mark (?) image.

When I right-click this child node & click 'Properties', 'Device
status' says 'The drivers for this device are not installed (Code 28).
To reinstall the drivers for this device, click Reinstall Driver'.

Could this be the cause of my color intuition?
