Thank you all here who replied. I downloaded FF2 from firefox.com which
gives direct option and it downloads firefox-2.0.0.1.tar.gz. I do not
know if this is bin package or rpm.
Now even I dont remember what I did trying to follow the googled help
output but out of frustration I have again uninstalled FF and now doing
yumex which will yet again install FF 1.5.0.9-1.fc6
Again, I will be back to square one. Nothing seems to be working as what
apparently seem to be "simple" steps for experts are definitely daunting
tasks for newbie like me.
I would also like to know why the following steps would work in RH9, FC5
but not in FC6.
1]I download FF2 in my /home directory.
2]I do -zxvf to untar it. It creates the FF directory.
3]cd firefox
4]now here, just typing firefox would launch the browser.
But no success in FC6.
