Hello Stephen,

please note that the information in this thread is not fully accurate. The
answer to your question is: Yes, you can install Windows XP Tablet PC
Edition on a desktop computer - but only for development purposes. Here are
two specific corrections:

a) you don't need the Tablet SDK in order to use Windows XP Tablet PC
Edition on a development computer - an MSDN subscription (level Operating
System or higher) is sufficient.
b) you don't need special hardware to use recognition. It will work with the
mouse. Using an external drawing Tablet is highly recommended, though.
