Thanks again for your response.
In fact I removed the printer again using RevoUninstaller, a program which
utilises the Application's own unistall facility, then checks both Registry
and Disk for connected files and offers to remove them.
Then I used the process you linked to "Spooler unistall" .
I am delighted to advise that my Word program is now printing correctly.
