Because I like them the way they are -- I just want a personalized favorites menu which was
available before I "upgraded" to IE8 and reverted to IE7.

No -- just that the article described how personalized favorites menu is supposed to work. I am
running XP Pro SP3 with all patches.

It worked fine on this machine for years -- through upgrades of IE until IE8. I suspect it was
removed from IE8 so the rarely used pre-installed favorites would constantly show up on the menu.
