A conflict with Spybot is one suggested reason for the slowness but lots of
us had the prob and never had spybot.
There are some possible fixes being posted around the web inlcuding
re-reigstering actxprxy.dll by executing this command from a command window:
regsvr32 actxprxy.dll. Another is to delete all the restricted web sites
from the security window under Tools, Internet Options. But the one that
worked for me was to go to the IE8 Manage Add-ons screen and disable Java.
The only other solution being offered is to revert to an earlier version of
IE. Disabling Java mAde a world of diff when nothing else would help. Load
times dropped for 5-15 sec down to a mere 1 or 2.
I imagine MS will fix the prob with JAVA and such eventually.
