I don't have statistics for you, but you (and your friends) might be even
more surprised by how many potential users lost.

A side note though, not just applied to Linux but also to those "supporters"
of their beloved product/company.

Same effects.

But the question is, you are the one(s) at disadvantageous and have lesser
to loss. Take it or leave it but it's well intended.
