The laptop works fine in the office because you are on the network and not
using VPN. As mentioned by Andrew, there are several problems that might be
occurring. Typically, your IT department preconfigures the VPN with the
proper settings and security certificates. Most likely one of these settings
are wrong and there is absolutely nothing you can do to make it right unless
you have the proper network settings and security certificate.
