| Re: chkdsk is veryfing files Run chkdsk from an elevated command prompt window. Assuming that chkdsk was
testing drive/partition C: (you should be told which partition/drive was
being checked) do the following:
Type chkdsk c: /f /r where C: is the partition where Vista is installed
upon.
You will get a message that it can't run - would you like it to run during
the nest boot. Type Y and then press the enter key. Reboot!
It will take a long time as this is the most comprehensive test that chkdsk
can perform.
If the test fails, or fails to complete (remember it takes a long time)
download the test utility from the manufacturer of the hard drive, not the
computer manufacturer. Run their test.
If you still have problems - replace the hard drive.
