Your Acer has an image of the machine as it came from the factory on a
special partition on the hard drive. However, if you damage that partition
or the hard drive dies, the image will be lost. Your Acer comes with a way
to create physical recovery discs. Look in your manual or on Acer's tech
support website to see how to do this. Create the recovery discs *now*.

Then you can install Windows 7 if you like knowing that you'll have to
problem replacing it with Vista if you don't like it.

An alternative (and I think better) solution is to image your Vista install
with a program like Acronis True Image and store the image on an external
hard drive. Then you can quickly restore your computer to its current
state, regardless of whether it is running XP, Vista, or Windows 7.
