Re: Missing icons in taskbar

Hans,
Sometimes these icons fail to show up on boot.

My solution is to go to the 'Control Panel' > 'Sounds and Audio Devices'
and deselect the option : 'Place volume icon in the taskbar' press on
the 'Apply' button. Then re-select the option and press on 'Apply'
again.

This seems to bring the volume icon back (for that session, at least).

For the 'Safely Remove Hardware' icon : Remove the drive that causes
the icon to be displayed in the first place, then, re-insert the drive -
the icon re-appears!

The 'Safely Remove Hardware' icon only appears if there is a 'removable
drive' that requires it.

If all your pen-drives and USB cd /DVD rom drives are unplugged the icon
disappears anyway.

I have seen the problem become quite chronic on some PCs and then these
'quik fixes' don't work anymore.

There's no explanation that I've heard of for this irritation.
