I have not been to any other countries,so can not comment on them. In the
US the stores used to do lots of things for the people. Gas stations would
pump the gas, check the oil and tires, and wash the windshield. Many stores
had elevator operators to push the buttons to take you to the floor you
want. Most stores will still bag your items. Grocery stores used to take
your food to the car and load them in for you. That was the first job I had
, that and stock the shelves.

All most all of this is gone now. We even check out the items in some
stores and pay for them without help. Atleast most of the grocery stores
around here will bag your food.
