Samsung NC-10, get the black one. The screen is totally NON GLARE and
can be turned up very bright with its Samsung display. Runs for hours
and Samsung has special software that comes on it for automatic upgrades
to drivers/etc. and professional online troubleshooting if you have a
problem. The inside plastic is FLAT black...never glares into your
eyes. I HATE glossy screens....how awful in an outdoor computer.
I've had many of them and this is my favorite. Take out one screw and
remove the bottom door. Pop out the 1GB 200 pin memory stick and
replace it with a 2GB that Microsoft forbade them to include as part of
the deal to put WinXP, not Vistacrap, on it. I paid $20 for 2GB from
buy.com. It's very easy to change.
Unlike the cheap EEE pcs, the Samsung has a bigger, easier typing
keyboard but a smaller touchtablet. But, the touchtablet is MULTITOUCH
very similar to iPhone and has a real scroll bar and nice feedback
button bar. Start scrolling on the scroll bar, keep your finger on it
and scroll right into the main tablet in a circle to scroll the whole
screen, no matter how long it is! Spread fingers to magnify, Squeeze to
zoom back out...on any browser.
Under $400 on the net from several places...
The speakers in the NC10 are just AWFUL! Bluetooth headphones or wired
phones are best....or powered external speakers if you want to play to a
group. Don't plan on listening to the horrible speakers in it.
Yecch...it's only real fault.
160GB is standard, as is the 6-cell extended battery pack, now...not
optional for more money.
