Mark & Robinson,

I'd like to comment on your thread if I may. First off, I'm pretty
sure that my Vista Ultimate SP1 (Thinkpad T500) has the same issue that
Mark is describing. Second, I have tried most (but not all) of the
things that Robinson has described to no avail.

In addition, I have a few variants to Mark's description I'd like to
mention

1) My problem shows up in the UI *and* the service never syncs and
also never puts anything in the event log.

2) I am able to do a /stripchart with time.nist.gov just fine so I
don't think there are any network issues per se.

3) My system does not have SP2 but it was fully updated with
WindowsUpdate on 6/4 and 6/11. I think there are some "pre-SP2" updates
essential to an eventual SP2 install that went on in one of these
updates.

So, I don't think this is an issue specific to SP2 but rather in one of
the recent updates just prior to SP2.

I'd really like to get this fixed so if you'd like more information
from me on system configuration/logs/etc. please let me know.
