This is the HP fix for issue with HP Director when IE7 came out and could
possibly resolve your problem.

Even tried latest versions of same from HP.com-same result.
This started because I simply went to the HP website, downloaded the latest
drivers, installed them like normal folks do and now can't get back to my
original setup which was wroking fine earlier that day.
HP was no help in three chat and one phone session. Each of the level1
chatsupport folks had an idea of what was the problem: XP or Office SP3 or
IE7; etc. Their level 2 support consisted of trying to sell me a
replacement printer.
The facts:
I have XP with SP3, Office 2003 with SP3 and all online updates to both.
I can print and manually copy but not scan or FAX with my 5510 because I
need to reinstall the HP Director and Image Zone software.
I tried their removal toll to level 4-no help.
Just want to try a clean reinstall......even if I need to dig through the
registry, etc.
