Could be. But as said never ever any problem with my COMPAQ devices.

I have been using hibernation just for that. My good oooooold Armada
M700 (my favorite device except the legendary COMPAQ Portable II) is not
used often these days. So it's sitting in hibernation for weeks. No
problem ever with battery drain.

For sure one should not blindly rely on it. Proper testing is required
in any case.
