| Re: journal.exe cpu hog Hi Berverly,
all if the oddities you report seem really strange i me.
It's to be special problems produced by Fujitsu.
Nine if the problems you explain ever appeared in my COMPAQ/HP tc1100.
I have always been relying on hibernation since the beginning of the
nineties - always COMPAQ notebooks and since the ACPI standard reached
the desktop computers in all if my desktop machines too.
I hardly ever shut down my systems.
There is no power drain at all when my tc1100 is in hibernation. There
is no difference when the machine is docked.
And I really do not understand the wireless issues. When the machine has
finished writing the hibernation file and is shut off, the light for
wireless is switched off and no power is consumed at all.
When you assume that the "rules" might have changed this could only mean
that Fujitsu would have made changes which do not confirm with the rules
laid down in ACPI standard.
And what you report from your friend's experience this just reflects a
combination of mistakes on his side.
All on all: If the manufacturer keeps to the standard and the user is
making the proper settings, hibernation works really fine and IMO is a
most basic feature for any portable computer.
