You may have to reinstall the mouse schemes:
Go to Control Panel => Add or Remove Programs.
Click the Add/Remove Windows Components button on the left.
Select Accessories & Utilities and click the Details button
Select Accessories and click the Details button
Select Mouse Pointers.
If it's unchecked, then check it and click OK.
If it's already checked, uncheck it and click OK to Remove the
pointers.
Exit Add or Remove Programs.
Repeat the above routine, but this time check the Mouse Pointers box to
reinstall the mouse pointers.
