I guess to some degree I would be circumventing their security, yes; my
email would be visible unless I implemented my own VPN-like solution. Being
a medium sized company, the IT guys don't have the resource to put time into
projects that only affect a small number of people. I see this as something
that will become increasingly asked for though (I'm just impatient! :D).

I think the more useful things would be access to email (obviously) and
Windows Mobile Communicator. At least for me. Calendar I can live with
synching at my desk.
