Registration is optional and gains you no additional benefits what-so-ever.
You can register over ANY Internet connection.
Activation is required and can also be done over the Internet and/or you can
call a phone number and go through an automated system and/or speak to an
actual human being.
Sounds like something is not setup correc tly in your Internet Connection
Settings - and there is no reason for you to 'register' anyway.
