taskbar toolbars are not returning after startup

Hello,

I have looked around extensively to try and find if anyone else has had this issue, but can't seem to find anything. So I thought I would ask here.

Anyway, my issue is that I am new to Vista, have had it and the new computer for about a month now. I like being able to add toolbars to the taskbar, specifically my favorites and desktop folders and thesis folders. I have figured out how to create these, have unlocked and repositioned everything and re-locked the taskbar. The problem is that when I turn off my computer and turn it back on (not a restart, but actually turning it off, and turning it on some time later) the taskbar resets to the original settings. My custom toolbars are gone and the open windows return to the very right (I usually keep them on the left).

I have tried to save them there and looked through the help and support section of the windows and hp websites and on computer support. I can't find anything to help save it for future sessions.

One other thing of minor annoyance. Every once in awhile a random new "Documents" folder appears on the desktop that is empty and I have to put in the recycle bin to get rid of it. It's not a big deal, but I was just curious if anyone has dealt with this before.

If anyone could help that would be great.

Thanks.
