As a previous posts suggests... to get rid of the 'login screen keyboard' I had to go to Device Manager and remove a device in the 'Human Interface Device' (HID) section. The device was an IDEACOM device (and I clicked the checkbox for 'Remove drivers...' too). I had gotten it installed due to an 'optional' Windows Update.
