How do I disable "Log onto Windows" at start-up?

Hello Everyone,

I am new to Technology Questions so please be gentle. I do not have any programming skills but I can and will follow directions carefully. I even read the instructions first.

I have a HP Pavilion Entertainment PC notebook with Windows XP Media Center with Service Pack 2.

I created 2 password protected Administrator accounts and have a limited Guest account. Upon start-up, an account list with avatars came up to select the user account. I then entered my password. I did not encounter any problems with that. I aborted setting up a local network while trying to connect my computer with another notebook. Since then I have a "Log onto Windows" dialog box come up displaying my user name (nobody else has used my computer since this started). The password is the same one I set when creating the user accounts. Control Panel User Accounts showed those 3 plus "asp.net machine a...". I have added a Registry DWORD Value ASPNET set to 0 per a 5-20-2007 thread started by Leigh and following Wes' link and instructions at mvps.org. No change. How can I get my system back to the list of accounts with avatars at start-up?

Any suggestions on properly connecting 2 computers temporarily?

Thank you,
John
