Hey Lang I have the same problem and tried your suggestion. I checked the registry and all is good there. I go to cmd an typ in 'net stop uxsms' but get:

System error 5 has accurred.

Access is denied.

Any clues? I am the admistrator so i'm sure it's not a permissions problem.
