It is typical for Vista to use a significant amount of ram. 2GB and above
is not unusual. Keep in mind that Windows is designed to do that when ram
is available. It is a good thing. The speed problem is another matter and
follow Hobbes's advice to update your drivers. Also insure that all your
memory sticks match including latencies.
