| Re: Vista Won't Boot Up Hate to say it but it sounds like a reinstall will be necessary.
Any ideas as to when it started doing this, what you might have installed
immediately before etc etc? It's unusual for a protected system file to
become corrupted (at least, it was on XP) which indicates to me that you've
either:
1) Got a problem with your hardware (bad sector on disc?)
2) Contracted a virus which has tried to inject itself into a system DLL and
just succeeded in corrupting it
3) Installed a new driver, system patch, or something else that corrupted
the file.
You might be able to recover using the original installation discs and
hopefully not lose all your data.
