You may have too many programs starting at logon, a virus or a user account
corruption.
1.
To manually select applications startup at logon go to Start > run >(type)
msconfig > Startup (tab). Uncheck all programs you donot need. This will
speed things up.
2.Check for virus with [insert antivirus app. here].
3.
Sometimes user accounts slowly become corrupted and eventually may stop
working. Your problem is most likely 1 or 2 and not 3.
There are things you can try:
try "Startup list 2.1 from
http://www.merijn.org/programs.php#startuplist
and copy the file into Start > all programs > start (folder) - this will run
at logon . This will take some time to sort through but will show every
process at startup.
When you are done with this utility remove it from the startup folder or it
will run everytime you start your user account.
