I tried the "upgraded Antenna" route once and it did not help enough.
I have a computer in a shop building out back of my house.
But I then bought a "Linksys Wireless-G Range Expander" (model WRE54G) and just plugged in into a
110V wall socket at the back of my house.
Now I get a strong clear signal in my shop.
My wireless router is a DLink model and I use several different USB Network adapters in the shop to
temporarily connect customer computers to the Web so the Range Expander works great with all brands
of network gear.
It was also very easy to set up the Range Expander.
Just plug it into a power source, push a button and it finds and locks in to the wireless systems it
finds.
Because I use both WEP and MAC filtering with my wireless system, I did have to program my wireless
router to allow access to the MAC address on the Range Expander.
