I don't have any good answers other than to suggest that you attempt to
calibrate in each orientation on the possibility that each calibration
will be saved with that orientation... might also try to calibrate and
save profile in each orientation if that doesn't work.
confirm that you always hold the pen the same way... if you look
closely, you will see that the onscreen arrow is a mm or sp below the
tip and calibration essentially corrects for how you perceive the
location... switch hands and you will see that it appears that
calibration has been lost.

on mine, using the button, the flip is instant if nothing is running, a
short pause if an app is open...
that could indicate that a lot is happening in memory... perhaps due to
a number of apps running which must each be reorientated to vista or
other background software.
