You might want to try Windows XP's own fax program. It's not as sophisticated as
Winfax Pro 10, but it does the job for my limited usage. I also run Office XP
and it will utilize Outlook's contacts.
Basically you can send a quick cover page w/o attachments. If attachments are
required, you first send them to the fax printer which then launches the fax
wizard to complete the cover page. There is a simple Fax Console which contains
the Incoming, Inbox, Outbox, and Sent Items folders.
When set for Manual Answer, a prompt appears with a soft ring tone for all
incoming calls.
