According to the New York Times, HBO on Broadband begins testing this week.
Green Bay and Milwaukee, Wis., then spread the service slowly to other parts of the country. The free service will allow access to about 400 hours of movies and original programming each month. It will be made available only to people already subscribing to HBO, and it will be marketed and delivered through cable operators.
Wow. This is an excellent idea and cannot wait until the service reaches my area. As a side note: why Green Bay and Milwaukee?
I wonder, though. Will the service be fast enough? I pay Time Warner for cable and many times the speed is not fast because the neighbors also use the service. The bandwidth is just not great enough.
What do you think? Does this service get you excited about watching movies on your computer?
