The success of the ASUS Eee prompts ASUS to expand the family line throughout 2008.
ASUS will release three new products under the Eee banner: E-DT, E-TV and E-Monitor. The E-DT is a desktop product initially shipping with a celeron. Eventually the product will ship with the Intel Shelton'08 platform with Diamondville processors and the 945GC chipset. The E-TV will compete in the over 42-inch LCD TV market whereas the E-Monitor competes with the Apple iMac.
Buried at the end of the story is the following news: "the company's market research has determined that touch screen is not a highly demanded feature for Eee PC customers, and therefore it will suspend plans to include the option of a touch screen panel in the next generation of Eee PCs." Ouch.
