Hotmail's bug is still active, two days after it was first reported.
I can imagine how this would cripple my activities if I used Hotmail rather than Gmail. In the past, my Gmail account has been inaccessible for a few minutes at a time (rarely) and in those instances, it was very annoying and frustrating not to be able to send or receive e-mail. But two days?! Come on, this is beyond frustrating.
Granted, it's only affecting a fraction of users overall, but "fraction" in Hotmail's case still comes out to millions of users, particularly in Europe in this case. Many Hotmail members report that their access has been uninterrupted. That's a relief to the higher-ups, but still a major problem to the relatively few it is affecting.
Microsoft released a statement to the Times Online saying that they realize this is an ongoing problem and that they are "actively investigating the cause" and working to repair the situation.
