WordPress for iPhone 2

by Layne Heiny on October 29, 2009

I can think of nothing more sad than sitting alone in a room and blogging as if the friends on your social network were coming over soon and ready to party. But this appears to be the case for some antisocial bloggers who are looking for attention.

Fear not, there is now no need to be locked in a bedroom, hiding from the bill collectors, or hiding from the girl you once had a mad crush on.

WordPress for iPhone 2 became available from the app store and all young antisocial wanna-be script kiddies can now blog about their adventures while sitting in the park, instead of their dark rooms.

Easy Photo Additions

As Pascal can attest, I love taking his photo. Sadly, he hates having his photo taken. Photos are usually a blur or a big yawn. At times, I get the “I’m on my back. Leave me alone.” Other times, he just gets up and runs away. Most of the time his ears are back and he has the expression of fear.

Why torture him? Well, I wanted to see if adding photos to a blog post was easier on version 2. The above photo was taken on the Apple iPhone while creating this post. I ended up taking several and this was the best of all of them. I’m sure you can do a much better job, however, this was far easier than with the previous version.

Here is a list of other improvements.

  • A new, more efficient user interface that makes it faster to switch between comments, posts, and pages.
  • Various user interface refinements and bug fixes
  • New Comments interface, with Gravatars and the author URL shown in the comment list
  • Passwords are now stored in the keychain
  • Posts are now automatically saved and restored if network connection is lost during publishing
  • Added persistence, so the app re-opens in the blog you last used
  • Added an interface for manually entering the XMLRPC endpoint for non-standard setups
  • Fixed rotation-related visual glitches
  • Fixed errors where malformed XML prevented access to XMLRPC endpoint
  • Fixed edge case where local drafts were sometimes not saved
  • Fixed the order of photos so that they’re displayed in the order they’re uploaded

OK. I’ve downloaded it for free. Now, it’s your turn. Please realize that this isn’t an update of the old application but a new installation (using the same icon). Let me know what you think about the new application.

This website uses IntenseDebate comments, but they are not currently loaded because either your browser doesn't support JavaScript, or they didn't load fast enough.
